Compared to the latest looms that focus on production efficiency, DENIM woven on old-fashioned shuttle looms is narrower and the weaving speed is significantly slower.
However, DENIM that is slowly woven on old-fashioned shuttle looms develops unique unevenness that gives it a natural uneven and full appearance.
fabric The selvedge applied to the ends to prevent fraying is the same rainbow COLOR selvedge used on the company's first domestic jeans, 359BF MODEL, released in 1963.
Selvedge DENIM is more expensive than other DENIM due to its inefficiency in production and fabric usage, but in return you can enjoy the fading of the color, which is one of the best aspects of jeans.
The dyeing process is done using a technique called rope dyeing, in which the yarn is tied into a rope shape and repeatedly dipped into a dyeing tank and pulled out, causing the indigo dye to oxidize when exposed to air, turning a vibrant blue.
The biggest feature of this technique is that the core of the thread is not completely dyed, resulting in a "white core" thread. The best part of jeans is the fading of the color, which occurs when the surface of the thread is scraped off, revealing the white part in the center, so it is extremely important to leave the "white core" intact.
We have used 100% cotton DENIM and stretch DENIM with these characteristics, and have prepared DENIM that is suitable for each fit.

■ Processing
The product has been given a sustainable and realistic used finish at EDWIN's own factory.
The company has many years of knowledge and experience in its own washing and processing factory, where they are able to recreate a realistic used look. Conventional used processing was done by hand (rubbing) on new products, but now they use a laser to project data programmed into a computer onto the product to create a used look.
We have a large wastewater treatment facility for the water required for washing, and we process it to a level that not only meets national and prefectural standards, but also places no burden on the environment. The water is clean enough to raise freshwater fish, and we process it sustainably to help realize a sustainable society.
