こんにちは。
昨年よりギャルリー・ヴィーにてお取り扱いが始まったシューズブランド〈Jamie Haller〉。

しっとりと柔らかなレザーは手袋のようなフィット感があり、使い込むほどに味わいが出ます。
とてもシンプルながら、存在感のあるデザインはベーシックなスタイルを格上げしてくれ、すでにお客様やスタッフから愛されるブランドに。

今回はそんな〈Jamie Haller〉のデザイナーとして、またインテリアデザイナーとしても活躍するJamie Haller氏にお話を伺いました。

1・スタイルのある人とはどんな人だと思いますか？また、あなたのスタイルを表すものは何ですか？
What do you think a person with their own style looks like?And how would you describe your own style?

スタイリッシュな人とは自分のスタイルに自信がある人だと思います。自分自身に真に忠実でいる人は自然とそのスタイルが着こなしを通して表れると思います。

I think what makes someone stylish is confidence. Someone also appears styling when they have a strong connection to their authenticity and can communicate that with how they dress.

私のスタイルは一言でいうとカジュアル。私は本物であることとアイコニックなシルエットを強く尊敬しています。ビンテージが大好きでビンテージのLevi’sと着古したTシャツが私の定番です。またMen’s wearを着るのも好きで色は褐色っぽい黒とネイビーが好きです。私のスタイルは基本ベーシックでユニフォームを着るような感覚ですが、時々スタイルで人を驚かすのが好きで、遊び心も忘れず、シルクのビンテージのブラウスにハイウェストのパンツを合わせたりすることもあります。建築的なフォルムと未来的でありながらクラシックなものが好きです。

I would say that my style is casual. I have a strong appreciate for authentic and iconic silhouettes. I love vintage. Vintage levis and threadbare tee shirts are my staples. I love menswear for women. I tend to wear black tan and navy. I am very basic and have a uniform, but I occasionally like to surprise people. I can also have a very playful side. Silky vintage blouses and high waist trousers I also like. I like architectural shapes and future classics.

2・自分の人生に影響を与えたコトはなんですか？
What has been an important influence in your life?

私は小さな時、フィギアスケートの競技選手で、大会に着るドレスをデザインし始めました。そのことがファッションの世界に入ったきっかけで、私が洋服を通して自分を表現することのはじまりでした。祖母が裁縫を教えてくれて、私がデザインしたスケートのコスチュームを縫ってくれました。高校生になり自分の着る洋服を作るのが好きになりました。若かった時にデザインをしたり、実際に裁縫をし始めたことが今の自分にあるきっかけを作ってくれたと思います。

When I was very young, I was a competitive figure skater and I started designing my competition dresses. That was my first introduction into fashion and expressing myself with clothing. I was always very creative. My grandmother taught me how to sew. She would sew the skating costumes I designed. When I was in high school, I liked to sew my own clothes. Being encourage to design and sew when I was young gave me an outlet for becoming who I am today.

小さい時からフリーマーケットに行き、洋服を交換したり良いものをいい値段で探す(“Hunting”する)のが大好きでした。以来“Hunting”に対する熱意が自分の中からなくなることはありませんでした。不動産のセール（＊英語でEstate Saleとは住宅を一般公開して、故人の遺品を売ること）に行くことも大好きで、このことが自分のファッションデザインやインテリアデザインにおいてビンテージやアンティークから強いインスピレーションを受けるようになった理由だと思っています。

I grew up going to flea markets and swap meets as a very young kid. I loved hunting for good deals and special pieces. This love of the hunt has never left my spirit. My favorite place is still a flea market. I love going to an estate sale. This has shaped an appreciate for vintage and antiques that informs my fashion and interior design aspirations.

3・生活する中で大切なコトは？好きなことは？
What is the most important thing/factor in your life,such as your interests,obsessions outside of work?

私はインテリアデザイナーでもあるので古いクラフトマン・シップやミッド・センチュリーのスタイルがある家が好きです。一度に沢山のプロジェクトに関わることがあります。2023年の3月に Architectural Digest の仕事がありその仕事をとても誇りに思っています。私は一つのことだけでなく多くのことができるというアイデアが好きで、必ずしも一つのことだけをするキャリアを持たなければいけないとは思っていなくて、ファッションデザイナーでありながら靴のコレクションをスタートすることもできるし、同時にインテリアデザイナーであることもできます。自分が常にクリエイティブであることに柔軟でいることが自分に新鮮さを与え満たしてくれることと思っています。

I also am an interior designer. I like to restore old Craftsman and Mid Century style homes. I work on many projects at one time. I had a house in Architectural Digest in March of 2023 and I am very proud of that work as well. I love the idea that we can do more than one thing. We don’t have to have a career and only ever do that job. We can be fashion designers, start a shoe line, and be interior designers, all at one time. Being fluid in my creative expression keeps me fresh and fulfilled.

4・今、興味や関心があるコトは何ですか？
What are your interests and your favorite things?

家族と一緒の時間を過ごすこと。シンプルなことが好きです。夫と二人の子供がいて特に予定をたてず何か楽しいことをする週末が好きです。

I love spending time with my family. I like simple things. I have a husband and two children and my favorite weekends are the ones we have no plans and something fun and spontaneous just occurs.

また友達とディナーに行きワインを飲むことも好きです。そして日曜日の朝は早起きをして抹茶をのみ、一人でRose Bowlにビンテージデニムとビンテージの家具のHuntingに行くこと、ヨガとピラテスも好きです。スタジオを別のデザイナーとシェアしていて他のクリエイティブな人々と同じコミュニティーにいることも私の喜びです。

I love to go out to dinner and drink wine with friends. I love to wake up early Sunday mornings and get a Matcha and go to the Rose Bowl alone to hunt for vintage denim and furniture. I like to do Yoga and Pilates. I like to listen to podcasts. I love hanging out with other creative friends and talking about our businesses and lives. It feels so good to connect with others going through similar things. I share a studio with a few other designers and I love being in the community of other creatives.

5・ファッションは自分にとってどんな存在ですか？
What does "fashion" mean to you?

ファッションとは、変わることと変わらないことです。私の中に絶対変わらないコアの要素があり、例えばJuttisやPenny Loaferなど15年着続けているものもあります。ビンテージのデニムやオーバーサイズのジャケットも永遠と着続けています。自分を真に表現できる自分が好きなものは常に変わりません。同時に変化もあります。ファッションとは常に何か新しさを求めて変化を続け、常に何か他のものになろうとしていると思います。自分が真に何かという事実と、変わり続けるファッションという世界において、またその新しい流れの中で自分がどこへ向かっているのかという緊張感はとても興味深いことだと思っています。

Fashion is something that changes and something that doesn’t. There is my core essence, and that is really something that doesn’t change. I have been wearing the same thing for 15 years. I have been wearing q. I have been wearing vintage jeans and oversized jackets for forever. That authentic thing I love to express myself as is always the same. AND it changes. Fashion is always trying something a new way. It’s always moving and becoming something else. That tension between who you are authentically and where you will go for the sake of fashion and newness is what is exciting.

ロサンゼルスのファッション界で22 年のベテランであるジェイミーは、控えめで先進的なカジュアルデ ザインの感性で有名です。 LAベースのコレクションNSF とカルトのお気に⼊りであるEVERのクリエイテ ィブディレクター兼デザイナーとしての⻑年デザインに携わった経験で、ジェイミーは、ロサンゼルスス タイルを象徴するようになったカジュアルで現代的なルックスとフィーリングを形成する⽴役者として活 躍してきました。2020 年、1 年間のロックダウンの後、個⼈的な探求、そして⾃分⾃⾝に「YES」と⾔う こと（⾃分が信じること）で新たな⾃由を得て、ジェイミーは彼⼥の名を冠した靴のコレクションを⽴ち 上げました。
ジェイミー・ハラーシューズは、ジェイミーのお気に⼊りのインドの靴、数年前にラジャスタン市場で⾒ つけた本物のジュティをベースにした簡単なスリッパから始まりました。 彼⼥の2 番⽬の形は、1970 年 代の男性⽤ペニー・ローファーのコレクションに触発されました。 イタリアン・クラシックのハンサム なラインは、スリッパのソールと組み合わせると特別なものになりました。
